This is the third part of my Microsoft Azure VM Monitoring series. In the first part, I showed you how to simply monitor Azure VM with PowerShell. In the second part, we output all data into XML and parse it on a website.
Now we are moving forward.. Adding an autoscale function into our monitoring script. So, in a Azure VM farm, we have a stopped VM or VMs. We will monitor average CPU usage of all VMs in farm. If their CPU usage reaches to 40% percent, that will start our stopped VM to autoscale our web farm.
This is just an idea. You can use other metrics to autoscale your environment. For example, you can use IIS metrics to monitor website performance and start VMs if farm is under high web load.

As you see, I started all VMs. But you can start VMs one by one or you can shutdown a VM if CPU usage is not high.
